Where has my time gone?

Today I will start with a small true story, there were 2 friends, lets  name them Sameer and Aditya, now reaching in their fourth decade of life, they thought of concentrating on their fitness, as this was the only aspect of life being neglected. Both decided to start up with a regular routine of a game and what better than tennis. Time was decided, day was fixed and than came the D-day. Now the time was fixed for 8’ am, but leaving Aditya there was no trace of Sameer, at 8. 30 came the heaving, panting Sameer who started with his sob story of flat tier, nevertheless the game was played for what ever time was left.

Then came the next day and there again Sameer was late , now the excuse was not finding his tennis racquet in place and the next day the dog was ill and the next day the wife fought and so on.

Aditya by now, was fed up and hence decided to put a law, that who ever got late would pay Rs100 for every late 5 minutes.

Do you know what happened? — That was the last game Sameer and Aditya had together.

Now what am I trying to convey thru this story_ ‘YES’ being late is an attitude and once you develop it really gets tough to break or change it and believe me, for one’s personality to be perceived in an appropriate manner one needs to value his and others time.

Have you ever thought every one has 24 hours but why some are always on time and some never?

To emphasize this I would state 3 principles whom I feel reflect very appropriately in today’s environment?

1.Planning takes time; not planning takes more time.It takes a lot less to prevent crises than it takes to solve it.

We manage interruptions – we don’t stop them.

Time management is one of the most difficult skill to imbibe, but has in turn the most startling results in one’s life. It is difficult because it needs discipline. It has startling results because it not only improves our effectiveness but improves our overall life.

‘I could not do this as I could not find time’ _ is one of the most clichéd statement that we keep using day in and day out.

In order for us who understand the concept of managing time we need to understand that.

Time can’t be managed, time is uncontrolled, we can only manage ourselves and our use of time.

2.Time management is self management.

3.It is the ability to plan, delegate, organize, direct and control.

4.Effective management is putting first thing first.

5.And Please stop being a procrastinator.

(Nutshell: ‘A very simple tip to manage your time is ; set your wrist watch 15 minutes ahead, this way you will gain approximately 15 x 300 days =  4500 productive minutes in a year and now just imagine what all you can do in these extra 4500 minutes.  Tip contributed by a one of the successful entrepreneur of Jaipur.)

Keep all these factors in mind and write to me for any questions which you think might help you in your personal time management.
